blog # 4

Every one has a role model in there life that is very important to them. I don't have a role model, but the person who impact my life is my brother Lukas; my younger brother. With out him I could have been someone else. My brother is a year younger than me and much taller than me too. But he has one big flaw he is autistic to a small degree. He gets very angry easily and he would start fighting and arguing with anyone who is near him.
I had to learn how to patient when it comes to Lukas. When I ask him if I could use the computer or play video game he always reply no and he complain or insult me, so I would negotiate if I could play an hour later and I would do something else. Another time he would go to my room break my belonging and make a mess. Then I would start cleaning up and say nothing to my brother.
I also learn how to be adaptive from Lukas. Lukas reactions is very unpredictable and it makes it hard talking to him. like When we are in the same room I was minding my own business and suddenly Lukas would just get angry and he would complain that I did something to him. So I would leave the room and he would calm down. Sometimes he would be angry with me or my other brothers because he had bad day at school. I would stay calm and try to get him talk what happen to our mom.
The most important thing I learned from Lukas is respect. Even though he is very disrespectful to me. For a while he was bullied and he would throw a tantrum, while every else on the play ground laugh at him. It was awful he could not help his reaction and I would try and stop the bully. I always imagine him going school everyday being teased and I respect him for that having the guts to go though that the bully and the insults everyday in grade school.
My brother is someone I learn from without him I would not be patient, adaptive, and respectful person. My brother may hate me, but he is the only person who impact my daily life and make me the person who I am today.

blog #3

When I was four I had a disease and in the hospital for months. The disease is called emphamihema is when mucus builds up in the lungs. I almost died, but I survived. When I got out of the hospital it felt that God gave me a second chance of living and I decided to be a doctor so I can save another person. A free-ride scholarship will help me be a step closer to achieve my goals. I know I must be diligent and adaptive to get the free-ride scholarship.

I have to be diligent in all of my work. When ever it is at working in school doing homework, i always check my work. I study weeks before the test and have my parents test me. At school if there is any extra credit points I take it and finish it. Somtimes when working hard the situation may change, so I have to change too.

Being adaptive play an important role when talking to people. I learn this from the Monroe Meyer Institute Program LCT this program helps socialize and become friends with autistic kids. Sometime it is very hard to talk to them because I do not know how they will react. So I have to be understanding and compromise when the autistic person is angry. Other times I have to be patient when talking because they have a lot to say.

This is a life time chance for me to accomplish my goal. I am diligent on my work and I am adaptive to any situation. I will put the time and the effort to get the free-ride scholar.

College classes blog #2

Taking college class is a new experience that every one takes when they enter the Summer scholar program. What I have notice is the college course is very challenging. The course I'm taking now is the English course. This college course requires a lot of critical thinking, when ever we read, write, and discuss anything in class our teacher Ms. Fountain pushes our critical thinking skill and go beyond the reading.
In class all the students have essay that is rough draft due every Monday and a final draft every Friday. The topic of each essay is autobiography about ourselves. Recently we have finish a Literacy Narrative explaining our most memorable experience of reading and writing. But in the end we combine the essays we made into a short autobiography about our selves. In addition of reading the autobiography of Barack Obama called "Dreams from My Father". Everyday in class we discuss the chapter by chapter on what happen in Obama's life. Sometimes in class we read short stories and discuss them as a class or work in groups. Later we have mid terms and finals about the book, discussions, and other short stories we read in class. What I hope I will gain from doing this class is to become a better writer.

Living at scott blog #1

living in the Scott hall dorms was very interesting with the variety of activities and people there. It was great meeting new people and making Friends. At first I think most students was very nervous or only talk to people they know. But some of the students were very enthusiastic and open minded. Those students were able to start conversations and help the other students to open up more.

I enjoy all of the activities that I have done with my Friends. My friends and I had to work hard as a team to complete the team trust course and ride down the zip-line. The hilarious conversation in the cafeteria every day. I like living with other people because we all help each when doing homework and it introduce me to three other people. Living in the Scott Hall is the funnest experience I have had in this program and I am excited to complete the program and succeed
